We took over Ejler and Ada Ljunggrens mill in Kornhult in the Midsummer’s weekend of 2005. Kornhult is situated in Halland bordering Småland and Skåne.
Several years of considerations and ideas succeeded this day. Since then we have been remodelling left, right, and centre. Kvarnen is now reaching the shape that we dreamed of. Using Simple Living as a step stone we have rearranged everything. Feng Shui theories have been applied, we have sensed and changed and we now feel that the place is almost all that we could wish for. Taking our cue from the spirit of the old Kvarn, a mill without wings, our vision was a place that was functional, inspiring, creative, relaxing for our guest, and not in the least for ourselves. We want to create relations and traditions, and spread; as much as we receive good energies, good experiences and spontaneity.
We have been well received and have established our own network in the area, people visit us again and again and many cups of coffee have been enjoyed in our kitchen by guests and friends that have actively participated in our hard work.
All through the summer we are offering freshly made coffee, tea, cakes, ice cream, cold beverages, salads, hot and cold Slow Food, herring plates, cheese and sausage plates, dinner, and barbecue when the weather allows.
If you want something special, give us a call. We also have Take Away.
Music activities will be announced on our website, on billboards, and at our roadside.
On the 1st floor of the main house we have a 3-bedroom apartment that can be rented out as a whole or separately. For further info, click at the link Boende.
We have and will have in the future several different kinds of workshops. You can book space on the 1st floor of the Kvarn enabling you to combine vacation, painting, and exhibiting your work.
In our basement we have a framing shop where canvasses of all sizes are being made.
In winter the shop in the basement will be used for painting as well as the 1st floor of the main house.
During the summer Kvarnen is filled up with art from a large variety of artists from Sweden and other countries.
During the fall we will open our winter gallery in the cellar. There will be no regular opening hours, but we can be contacted by knocking on our door, a telephone call or e-mail if you want to visit us.
We are looking forward to welcoming the summer, our guest, friends, and family to Kvarnen in Kornhult.
